During his recent ministry in southern Africa, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wife, Kathy, visited Tambo Memorial Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. Elder Christofferson announced a contribution to the hospital to help support their efforts in caring for premature babies and small children.
“We felt as we visited the very tiny children and some of the older, pediatric care children, patients, and mothers that, each life truly matters. Everyone is sacred. Each one is a child of God,” said Elder Christofferson. “There was, for me at least, a very deep feeling of how real that is when you see the life hanging in the balance and the tender child and the tender care given. It becomes more real, more evident.”
“This is faith in action.”

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was joined by National Football League Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and many others to honor Reverend A.R. Bernard, founder, CEO and pastor of the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Rev. Bernard received the New York Latter-day Saints Professional Association’s visionary leadership award during their annual banquet in New York City on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
“His exemplary service in building faith and reducing suffering needs to be celebrated. He not only addresses the spiritual needs of the members of his congregation but also in a Christlike manner administers to the temporal needs of members and nonmembers of his congregation and the community,” said Elder Cook.
Elder Cook also recognized Andy Reid and his wife, Tammy, for their “marvelous example.”
