In a move to alleviate food insecurity for Londoners at risk of hunger, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Muslim Aid UK have joined forces with The Felix Project to provide millions of meals for those in need. This impactful collaboration will support The Felix Project’s mission to distribute 40 million meals across the capital in 2025, offering vital relief to struggling communities.

This interfaith support is linked to The Felix Project’s upcoming relocation of its West London depot to Acton Park, set for early 2025. With the current facility supporting 284 community organizations, the move will significantly increase capacity, enabling The Felix Project to rescue more food and deliver more meals annually.

“If we believe big, then the Lord can do amazing things,” said Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman as she wrapped up a five-day ministry in the tropical islands of the western Pacific Ocean.

She and her husband, Greg, visited Guam and the Federated States of Micronesia – Pohnpei and Chuuk.

With President Freeman’s unique background through eight years of teaching seminary, online podcasts and a lifetime of belief and devotion, she teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ in a relevant way to especially help today’s youth.

She traveled by boat to the small islands of Romanum and Tonaus where she met with Latter-day Saints and friends of the faith.

Young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Berlin, Germany, had the opportunity to spend Valentine’s Day with an Apostle.

“I bring to you the love, the greetings, and the blessings of President Nelson, President Oaks and President Eyring, and all my associates of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. We love you, and we pray for you repeatedly,” he told the capacity congregation on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Elder Bednar, with his wife Susan and other Church leaders, did not offer prepared talks. Instead, they fielded questions from the youth and young single adults in attendance, including questions about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, repentance, and answering prayers.

Elder @BednarDavidA asked them to focus on impressions rather than take notes during the two-hour Q&A.

“My prayer is you will not remember one thing that we said tonight. Not one thing, but instead you will never forget what is revealed to you in your mind and in your heart by the power of the Holy Ghost. So, pay very close attention to what you are learning by the power of the Holy Ghost,” the Apostle encouraged.

During his ministry, Elder Bednar will travel to the Middle East and participate in the International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

On February 14, 1853, a groundbreaking ceremony in Salt Lake City began a 40-year journey of faith and sacrifice, culminating in the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple in 1893.  

A current and comprehensive renovation to strengthen this sacred house of the Lord for future generations is now nearing completion. 

Today, exactly 172 years after the groundbreaking ceremony, I am delighted to announce that the temple will reopen for tours during a public open house from April to October 2027. 

We warmly invite our friends to come and learn about God's plan for His children and rejoice in the love of Jesus Christ. Details about this event will be shared as April 2027 approaches. 

As houses of the Lord now dot the earth, I invite you to cherish your time and service at the temples closest to you as we prepare for the reopening of the Salt Lake Temple in 2027.

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the locations of the Culiacán Mexico Temple and Tuguegarao City Philippines Temple.  An exterior rendering of the house of the Lord in Tuguegarao City has also been released, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lethbridge Alberta Temple has been announced.

“Jesus Christ is the reason we build temples," Church President Russell M. Nelson (@NelsonRussellM) has said. "Each is His holy house. Making covenants and receiving essential ordinances in the temple, as well as seeking to draw closer to Him there, will bless your life in ways no other kind of worship can.”

Latter-day Saints worship in temples for several reasons: to feel God’s love and peace, to learn more about God’s plan for His children and the gospel of Jesus Christ, to make promises with God and with one’s husband or wife and to unite families in this life and the next through sacred ordinances.

I recently had the opportunity to speak at a 10-year celebration event honoring the collaboration between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai.

 

Thanks to a joint effort with our good friends, Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari and Dr. Bubbles Kandhari, The Church of Jesus Christ has had the honor to participate in meaningful service to bless the lives of those in need by providing meals to the hungry. We look forward to continuing the collaboration with this gurudwara for years to come.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Elder Ulisses Soares and other Church leaders met with Peru President Dina Boluarte. The Apostle was joined by the Tabernacle Choir Presidency, the South America Northwest Area Presidency, and former U.S. Senator Mitt Romney. They spoke of family, religious freedom, strengthening ties and efforts to support those in need.

“We are all children of God, and we want to share His love with all the people in the world,” Elder @Ulisses__Soares said after the visit. “So it was an amazing opportunity to be with her and see how much respect she has for what we do, we are working through her committees to help people in whatever condition we can.”
